Deflecting the Delta Variant

We continue to offer an FDA approved rapid antigen test for $30 in our office parking lot for existing patients. I strongly recommend purchasing a few rapid home kits at Walgreens or Amazon as the easiest option to have on hand. See the links below to order a couple free ones from state too. Do initial test, if negative and symptoms repeat next day, and again at day 3 or 4 if you still have symptoms. A PCR at an urgent care can help rule out a false neg too. False negatives with rapids are common especially with breakthrough mild infections in immunized folks. Please call ahead of time to schedule this test if needed. This test does not qualify for United Airlines or other carriers.  They require a PCR test and this is best performed at AFC urgent care locally.

To the left and below are videos of my recent zooms, resources for prevention, testing, treatment and vaccination updates for Covid. I will be updating these links/documents on a regular basis, but please feel free to email the office or me with useful recommendations to share or questions not covered.  Thank you, and wishing you the best in on-going health and staying happy during these difficult times. We will make it through this together!!

COVID Treatment & Resources

Let’s do our best to keep up with current recommendations to beat this virus.

Keeping yourself healthy with regular exercise, anti-inflammatory diets and maintaining lower stress is important too. The BA2 variant is on the rise, and we may see a small surge in mid-April. I can now prescribe the EUA antiviral Paxlovid if you have a positive test and are symptomatic.  It has limited availability and is very expensive, usually not covered by insurance ($500). It can cut the risk of hospitalization and death for people at high risk of severe COVID-19 by nearly 90%. Learn more here about this rx. Immunizations remain your best primary defense however. If you have additional risk factors such as diabetes, cancer etc, this antiviral is worth considering even if you are fully boosted.  I am hopeful that an updated booster will be available this Summer or Fall.  I feel the best strategy moving forward will be a once a year booster at this point, which could include flu vaccine coverage if the combo doesn’t produce too many side-effects.

My appointments are currently about 1/3 virtual and 2/3 in person. Either is fine, but if you’ve had a recent exposure or feel the slightest bit sick, please make it a zoom. We are requesting folks to wear a mask when entering the office common space. You can take it off back in the exam room once we’ve determined you are low risk. We will continue or run our office HEPA/UV-C air filtration installed in rooms indefinitely for extra protection to you and staff.

Our office hours remain 9-5, but when possible, please email/call ahead to let us know if you are dropping in. This way we can get supplements, lab forms, test kits ready for you ahead of time. Practice updates will be sent our monthly newsletter. If you are not getting them please consider signing up via link near bottom of this page. We offer IV immune support (Vitamin C, Glutathione, FastVit, NAD)for those that are interested. This can also be very helpful if you are struggling with post-covid fatigue and are at least 2 wks out from Covid infection. NAD+, Vitamin C, Vitamin D can also be preventative to catching viral infections. Call us if you’d like to learn more about preventative strategies, particularly with NAD+.
