GI and Microbiome Balancing
Testing of your gut bacteria to evaluate normal vs abnormal bacteria, and an overgrowth of certain bacteria is recommended for everyone. This is performed via the Genova GI effects profile home kit and then reviewed by Dr. G with you.
If dysbiosis (imbalance of gut bacteria) is noted, then he may recommend a probiotic and or pre-biotic.
If an abnormal bacteria (pathogenic), protozoa or parasite is noted, an antibiotic or anti-parasitic medication will be recommended to clear this out, followed by rebalancing with probiotics.
Sibo testing (small intestine bacterial overgrowth) is often performed if symptomatic, and can be treated with medications, or by natural means.
If digestive imbalances are noted, dietary changes and digestive enzymes may be recommended.
If inflammation is noted by stool markers, we will recommend an expanded food allergy and food sensitivity test. Once a food allergy is identified and treated, inflammation is reduced and you will feel much better.
Similarly if we reduce inflammation by balancing gut bacteria, eliminating bad bacteria or a parasite, you will feel better physically and mentally.
Balancing the microbiome can help with weight loss, improved energy, and better mood. Mood is enhanced as serotonin levels balance in the gut, and other benefits are derived from reductions in your global inflammation.
We will guide you on nutritional modifications in addition to probiotics to keep you balanced.
